A Look Back, A Look Forward

2014 was a landmark year for Liz in Detroit and for Detroit itself.
There have been so many positive changes happening. The city, while still facing its challenges, has seen an incredible uptick in new business and residential development. There are more fantastic places to eat, drink and shop in the downtown Detroit area than there have been in years. It’s making my job easier, because now when I brag about all of the good things happening in Detroit, I can point to the latest hotspot or sold-out building, and offer suggestions on tons of other places to check out. Even with its speedbumps, seeing how the county is trying to smooth the path to homeownership and eliminate red tape for potential buyers through the Wayne County Tax Foreclosure Auction has been encouraging. Seeing families and individuals excited to purchase these homes and make them their own further defines why people are catching on to what I have known, Detroit has a lot to offer. Amazing! It’s going to be a process, but it’s moving in the right direction.
I was very proud to open my own office in the heart of the New Center in 2014 — look for our official Grand Opening party announcement to come soon! Having my own space makes it that much easier to be of better service to my clients, as does my amazing team; I’ve brought on an operations manager and a group of contractors to help assist with buyer and seller needs. And on a personal level, I ended the year by getting married to the love of my life.
So I look forward to 2015 with a lot of optimism. I’m excited about my new role as Head of Sales for the Park Shelton, working to connect buyers with homes in this gorgeous, historical building. We’ll be starting a big kickoff there with a Spring into Home Ownership plan in early 2015 — more on that later. I’m excited to see growth in the Detroit housing market, with more people looking, more people buying and more homes selling. And I’m excited to show my clients the very best the city has to offer. With the bankruptcy settled, plans for better city services across the board and more lights in our neighborhoods, Detroit is looking better than ever as a place to call home.
